Each year the Oblong Children's Christian Home looks forward to a bigger
and better event to kick-off the fundraising season. Year 2014 will not disappoint with the 7th Annual Race
for the Kids (a duathlon/5K event held at the city park in Hutsonville, IL).
Join us Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 8:00 am (Central) at the city park in Hutsonville for a fun morning.
Participants may compete in the 5K or in the duathlon (2-mile run, 20-mile bike ride, and concluding 2-mile run).
Registration is only $25 per individual (by April 11). After the
early bird date, registration fees increase to $30. You may register online (see link below), by phone (618-592-3633),
or by submitting a registration form. Entry fees are non-refundable.
All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a finisher medal, a goodie bag, and post-race refreshments.
All athletes will also be eligible for randomly drawn door prizes.
Awards will be given in six age categories: 20 & under, 21 - 30, 31 - 40, 41 - 50, 51 - 60, 61 and over.
In addition, trophies will be distributed to the top male and female runner in the 5K, the top male and female participant
in the duathlon, and the top duathlon team (one biker and one runner).
Athletes truly love the course at Hutsonville. For the duathlon, the 2-mile run is flat (out and back), and
biking (20 miles) is flat to gently rolling hills (lollipop route). For those enjoying the 5K, the walk/run is through
town (a loop - flat, paved roadway).
All duathlon participants
must wear ANSI or Snell approved helmet during the cycling portion of the race.
Come on out and enjoy a spring event that gets your blood pumping and benefits many children at the Oblong
Children's Christian Home.
